Women's Volleyball Secures Sixth-Consecutive Victory With Win Over SUNY Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. (October 8, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team scored its sixth-consecutive victory with a 3-1 (27-25, 25-11, 19-25, 25-19) triumph over SUNY Cortland in the opening match of the Cortland Invitational in Cortland, N.Y. With the win, the Ducks improved to 18-4 overall on the year, while the Red Dragons fell to 18-5 on the season.

Stevens took a closely-contested opening set, 27-25, before earning a decisive 25-11 victory in set two to take a 2-0 match lead. The Ducks would drop the third set, 25-19, before closing out Cortland with a 25-19 triumph in the fourth and final set.

Sophomore outside hitter Maggie Kowalska led Stevens with 18 kills and three blocks, while junior Amethyst Holder finished with 14 kills and 13 digs. Senior setter Sara Budar, tallied 41 assists and eight digs, while fellow senior Julia Reilly finished with 21 digs.

The Ducks continue play at the Cortland Invitational on Sunday, October 9 against Hunter College and SUNY Geneseo.
