HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 18, 2010) – Sophomore midfielder Caroline Jastremski (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored a pair of second half goals to lead No. 16 Ithaca College women's soccer team over Stevens Institute of Technology, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute thanks to a pretty, set-piece goal, but the Bombers scored in the 70th minute and then again 2:52 into the first overtime to secure the victory.

After withstanding a great deal of early pressure from the nationally-ranked Bombers (5-1 overall, 2-0 Empire 8), the Ducks were able to get some offensive going for themselves. After penetrating the Ithaca zone on several occasions, Stevens was able to get a couple of shots off and following a Bomber foul 40 yards out, sophomore Paige Allen lined up to take a free-kick. The Manalapan, N.J. native, lofted a high-arching service into the center of the box where senior midfielder Mary Chew broke-free and headed the ball in for her first goal of the season.

In the second half, Stevens looked to increase their margin, generating a couple of chances. Ithaca bounced back however, continuing to push forward to create several great scoring opportunities, but struggled to get on the board thanks to several phenomenal saves by Stevens' junior goalkeeper Kaitlin McClymont.

The Ducks had a chance to put the game out of reach thanks to a high-arching shot off the foot of senior back Kara Pepe in the 65th minute. The ball deflected to the Staten Island, N.Y. native in the middle of the field and the veteran put the ball on net from 30 yards out, where it ricocheted off the crossbar.

Ithaca finally drew even in the 71st minute when Jastremski took a pass on the left side from junior Megan Trager (Sharon, Mass.), held off the defender and fired a shot into the lower-right corner of the goal.

The two teams could not decide a winner in regulation, but early in the extra period, Jastremski again took a pass on the left side, this time from freshman Ellyn Grant-Keane (Lansing, N.Y.), and lifted a shot into the top left-hand corner to give Ithaca the 2-1 win.

Stevens returns to action on September 25 when it plays host to Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher College.
