Kowalska Powers Women's Volleyball to Fifth-Straight Win

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (September 22, 2010) – Sophomore Maggie Kowalska notched a season-high 16 kills as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team notched its fifth-consecutive victory, defeating Muhlenberg College, 3-1 (25-11, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17), in Allentown, Pa. With the win the Ducks moved to 10-2 on the season, while the Mules fell to 1-9 on the year.

After a decisive 25-11 first-set victory to open the match, Stevens dropped a closely contested second set, 25-20. The Ducks would quickly regain control however, notching a 25-17 win in the pivotal third set, before closing out the match with a 25-17 triumph in the fourth and final set.

Freshman Chrissy Dickinson had eight kills in the win, while senior Maggie Majcher finished with six kills and four digs. Senior setter Sara Budar and freshman counterpart Samantha Gates had 18 and 16 kills, respectively, with senior Brittany Conroy tallying eight digs and three service aces in the win.

Junior middle Jackie Price (Medway, Mass.) led the Mules with eight kills, while senior Caitlin Dombrowski (Dumont, N.J.), Davi Gordon (Pickerington, Ohio), freshman Morgan Duggan (Allentown, Pa.) each recorded five kills. Duggan added 18 assists and four digs in the loss, with Gordon collecting eight digs in defense.

Stevens returns to action on September 25-26 when it opens up conference play with the first Empire 8 Crossover Weekend hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.
