Women's Volleyball Swept by Keene State

Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. (October 28, 2011) – In the first match of the Connecticut College tournament on Friday evening, October 28, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team lost to Keene State College, 3-0, falling to 15-20 on the season. The Ducks have two more matches tomorrow against Tufts University and Conn. College at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.

In the straight-sets loss, junior Maggie Kowalska (Edison, N.J.) paced the Ducks with 10 kills and four service aces. Kowalska also posted six digs and two total blocks.

Senior Andrea Bucko (Union, N.J.) handed out a team-best 21 assists to go along with a team-high seven digs. Bucko also chipped in three kills, while sophomore Chrissy Dickinson (Issaquah, Wash.) added seven kills and four blocks to lead Stevens.

Stevens' senior Kate Janes (Warwick, N.Y.) added five digs, three kills and two blocks. Sophomore Mary Caulson (West Islip, N.Y.) also tallied three kills and four digs in the loss.

Freshman Reanin Glah (West Chester, Pa.) recorded five digs and three kills for the Ducks.

The Ducks are back in action tomorrow, October 29, for two matches against Tufts University and the host institution, Connecticut College at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

After this weekend, Stevens will travel to Elmira College for the Empire 8 Conference Championships. The Ducks will take on Nazareth College at 3:30 p.m., and with a win, will move onto the finals where they will square off with the winner of Elmira versus St. John Fisher College on Sunday, November 6, at 1 p.m. The conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
