Field Hockey Maintains National Statistical Ranks Heading into Regular-Season Finale at Elmira

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 25, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team cracks the national top-50 in five different statistical ranks according to the latest release from the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
 
Stevens (11-6 overall, 7-0 Empire 8) is eighth in penalty corners per game, averaging 13.65, and is 37th in assists per outing (7.94). The Ducks are 40th in winning percentage (.647), 43rd in points per game (7.94) and 44th in goals per game (3.0).
 
Individually, senior Mary Nikish (Pittsford, N.Y.) checks in at No. 19 in assists per game (0.76). The veteran forward leads the Empire 8 in that category. Junior Marguerite Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) is third in goals (13) and points (31), while senior goalie Kaitlin McClymont (Corpus Christi, Texas) is fourth in saves with 106.
 
As a team, Stevens is second in the E8 in goals (51), first in assists (33) and first in penalty corners.
 
The Ducks will visit Elmira College on Sunday, October 28 at 1 p.m. There will be no live stats or video of the contest. Stevens will then turn its attention to the Empire 8 Championship on November 3 and 4 in Hoboken. The Ducks are the top seed and will play Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against a TBD opponent. The title game is slated for Sunday at 1 or 2:30 p.m.
