INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 9, 2012) – Senior forward
Mary Nikish (Pittsford, N.Y.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team is ranked third in the nation in assists per game according to the latest statistical release by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released Tuesday morning.
Nikish is averaging one assist per contest. Junior
Marguerite Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) is also listed in the rankings, checking in a No. 47 in goals per game (0.92).
As a team, Stevens is ninth in penalty corners per game (13.38) and 35th in points per game (8.46). The Ducks are 36th in goals per game (3.23), 41st in assists per game (2.0) and 50th in winning percentage (.615).
Stevens is currently in first place in the Empire 8 standings, one game ahead of Hartwick College. The Ducks play next on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. when they host in-state rival William Paterson University at the De Baun Athletic Complex. Stevens will host Hartwick Saturday morning as part of Homecoming 2012 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Both games can be seen live at
