Box Score
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (November 28, 2012) – Despite 17 points from freshman Miranda Ripken (Fallston, Md.) and 13 rebounds by classmate Cassie Nicholas (Sicklerville, N.J.), the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell 66-50 to Brooklyn College on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs have now won four-straight games to improve to 4-1 overall on the season, while the Ducks drop to 3-2 on the year.

The beginning of the first half was a tight affair, as the teams combined for three ties and five lead changes. Following a pair of free throws from Molly Spadaro (Sewell, N.J.), the Ducks enjoyed their largest lead of the game, 13-7, with 7:58 left before the intermission. BC then used a 15-4 run to turn the tables and take its largest lead of the half, 22-17, with just 2:14 remaining before halftime. Tiffany Thompson (Bronx, N.Y.) and Vanessa D'Ambrosi (Brooklyn,N.Y.) combined to score 10 of the 15 points in the run. The Bulldogs would head into the locker room with a slight 27-24 advantage.

Brooklyn would carry its momentum from the first half into the second, as the Bulldogs would eventually build a double-digit lead on a three-pointer from senior guard Brittany Bowen (Ellicott City, Md.) at the 13:34 mark of the second half, which gave BC a 40-30 lead.

For Stevens, Ripken just missed a double-double, falling one rebound shy of the first such milestone of her career…the Ducks held Brooklyn to 32 percent shooting from the floor, but the Bulldogs forced 27 Stevens turnovers.

The Ducks will be back in action on December 4 at SUNY New Paltz in a 5 p.m. showdown.
