Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (September 12, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team lost in four sets to SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday evening. Stevens won the second set, 25-13, but dropped the other three, 25-13, 25-19, 25-12. This weekend, the Ducks will host the Ducks Classic with two matches on Saturday and two more on Sunday.
Senior opposite hitter
Maggie Kowalska (Edison, N.J.) led the charge for Stevens with a double-double effort. Kowalska tallied 18 digs and 17 kills to go along with four service aces and three total blocks.
Three other Ducks recorded 11 kills in the match. Junior setter
Samantha Gates (Wilmington, N.C.) was one of three and also paced Stevens with 28 assists. Fellow junior and outside hitter
Mary Caulson (West Islip, N.Y.) added six kills to her 11-dig effort, while sophomore libero
Kirsten Salmins (Wyckoff, N.J.) was the third player to meet that tally.
Sophomore middle hitter
Katie Hall (Midlothian, Va.) recorded a hitting percentage of .353 on seven kills in 17 attempts with one error, while junior libero
Hannah Gasper (Bourne, Mass.) and freshman setter
Catie Shelton (Central Square, N.Y.) combined for 17 digs.
On Saturday, Stevens will take on Buffalo State College at 4 p.m., and follow up with a match against York College (Pa.) at 8 p.m. The Ducks return to the court on Sunday at 10 a.m. for a showdown with FDU-Florham, and wrap up the weekend at 2 p.m. against Swarthmore College.
