Stockton Deals Women's Volleyball Loss

GALLOWAY, N.J. (September 5, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team was handed a straight-sets loss from Richard Stockton College, 25-16, 25-14, 25-16, falling to 0-5 this season. Junior setter Samantha Gates (Wilmington, N.C.) led all players in the match with 18 assists and added four digs.

Junior outside hitter Mary Caulson (West Islip, N.Y.) paced the Ducks with seven kills, while senior opposite hitter Maggie Kowalska (Edison, N.J.) chipped in six kills to go along with a team-best 13 digs.

Stevens' trio of back row players, junior Hannah Gasper (Bourne, Mass.), sophomore Kirsten Salmins (Wyckoff, N.J.) and freshman Catie Shelton (Central Square, N.Y.) combined to post 17 digs in the loss. Shelton recorded the most with eight, while Salmins chipped in five and Gasper added four.

Sophomore middle hitter Katie Hall (Midlothian, Va.) tallied five kills and freshman outside hitterKristen Herchenroder (Breezy Point, N.Y.) finished with four digs and three kills.

The Ducks are back in action this Saturday, September 8 at Vassar College against the Brewers and New York University at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
