No. 6 Women’s Swimming Upended by No. 4 Johns Hopkins

HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 19, 2013)
 – The fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins University women's swimming team defeated No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology 164-94 Saturday afternoon at the De Baun Aquatic Center in Hoboken, N.J.
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Louise Moores (Mukilteo, Wash.), sophomore Brittany Geyer (North Brunswick, Ohio), sophomore Sharon Rooker (Forest Grove, Ore.) and freshman Jennifer Rutledge (Suwanee, Ga.) placed second to start the day with a time of 1:51.00, while freshman Elizabeth Heinbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) took the top-spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking a 10:42.03.
 
Moores earned a second in the 100-yard backstroke (59.26), with Geyer checking in third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.47. Heinbach finished third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:15.25, and Moores' second second-place of the day came in the 50-free, touching at 24.76.
 
Rutledge went third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.74, and junior Megan Lisbon (Woodbridge, Va.) went third in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking a 2:12.97. Freshman Elena Piper (Chesapeake, Va.) did the same in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.71), while Heinbach was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:14.82.
 
Moores finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, turning in a 1:00.23, while freshman Katlyn Christenson (Snohomish, Wash.) was third in the 200-yard IM (2:17.54).
 
Senior Marissa Douglas (Cumberland, R.I.), sophomore Nicole Miller (Peoria, Ill.), sophomore April Lawson (Coronado, Calif.) and Rutledge took third in the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, recording a 3:41.49.
 
Prior to the dual, Stevens honored its seniors swimming in their last meet at the De Baun Aquatic Center –  Victoria Baldwin (The Woodlands, Texas), Marrisa Douglas, Allison Henning (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Erin Hopson (Forked River, N.J.) and graduate student Cailin Grunewald (New Windsor, N.Y.).
 
The Ducks will visit No. 9 The College of New Jersey on January 27 in Ewing, N.J.
