Women's Results
ITHACA, N.Y. (January 26, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's indoor track & field team recorded its best finish in school history at the Empire 8 Conference Championships at Ithaca College on Saturday, coming in second overall. Senior
Alina Duran (West New York, N.J.) was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Meet with two first place finishes in the shot put and weight throw.
Duran set a facility record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.18 meters to place first overall and then topped the field in the shot put with a mark of 12.04 meters. She blew away the field in the weight throw, besting each competitor by three meters.
Freshman
Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) continued her stellar freshman campaign, earning top honors in the mile with a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 5:14.37. Regan won the event by over five seconds and also ran a leg on the first place distance medley relay team.

Junior
Rebecca Tylock (Shrewsbury, Mass.) took second in the pole vault with a cleared height of 3.15 meters, while fellow junior
Tiffany Evangelou (Fair Lawn, N.J.) came in third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.68 seconds.
Freshman
Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) competed in the high jump and placed third overall with a mark of 1.58 meters in her first collegiate championship.
Three other Ducks claimed fourth place finishes in three separate events to round out the top performances for Stevens. Senior
Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) clocked a time of 19:46.90 in the 5,000-meter run, while classmate
Grace Python (Glenmont, N.Y.) posted a mark of 13.77 meters in the weight throw. Freshman
Brianna Marchal (Manahawkin, N.J.) tossed the shot 10.54 meters for another fourth place outcome.
Stevens will return to action on February 2 and East Stroudsburg University at 11 a.m.
To wrap up the championship, Duran claimed first in the shot put and weight throw events, Regan prevailed in the mile, and the team of Regan, Freed, Dardir and Zahran won the distance medley relay. Duran set new school records in both events and also established a new Empire 8 record in the weight throw, while Regan qualified for ECAC's and broke the school mark in the mile (her third school record of the winter).
