INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 9, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team is featured amongst the nation's stat leaders according to the latest statistical release by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tuesday night.
The release takes into account game's played through January 6 so the Ducks' 75-70 win at Kean was not included.
As a team, Stevens (9-1) cracks the top-50 in four separate categories. The Ducks are No. 19 in field-goal percentage defense (38.0), 21st in won-lost percentage (88.9), 48th in field-goal percentage (47.7) and 50th in scoring margin (plus 10.2 points per game).
Individually, senior guard
Sheldon Jones (Queens, N.Y.) is ranked 20th in free-throw percentage, converting 89.7 percent, while senior guard
Russ Thompson (West Orange, N.J.) is 22nd in three-point field goals per game (3.11). Thompson is 27th in three-point field-goal percentage (45.9 percent), with junior guard
Matt Skrelja (Clark, N.J.) checking in at No. 28 in steals per game (2.67). Sophomore forward
Kenny Gan (Hillsborough, N.J.) and his 2.11 blocks per outing are 30th, while Skrelja's 4.8 assists per contest are 55th.
In the Empire 8, the Ducks are No. 1 in won-lost percentage, field-goal percentage, and field-goal percentage defense. Their scoring offense and scoring margin are both second.
Stevens will return to action when it hosts Alfred University and St. John Fisher College for a pair of Empire 8 games Friday night (8 p.m.) and Saturday afternoon (4 p.m.). Both games can be watched live at
