HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 2, 2013) – Senior forward
Stephen Dunbar (Johns Creek, Ga.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team earned Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in a 4-0 win over Alfred Saturday.
Dunbar put the Ducks on top in the 11th minute with an unassisted marker, and then found the net again at 21:16 when he put away a feed from sophomore midfielder
Carson Pryor (Louisville, Ky.). The veteran is tied for the team lead in goals with five and points with 11 and has scored four times over his last four outings.
Stevens (6-1-1, 1-0-0 Empire 8) is currently ranked 16th in the nation in scoring offense with 3.25 goals per game and 18th in points per game (8.75). The Ducks are No. 21 in goals-against average (0.49), 29th in assists per game (2.25) and 33rd in won-lost-tied percentage (.813).
Individually, senior goalkeeper
Paul Killian (Ellicott City, Md.) cracks the top-50 in goals-against average, checking in at No. 31 (.533).
After a 1-0-0 week, the Ducks find themselves ranked eighth in the nation in the D3Soccer.com Top 25 and 10th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll. Ohio Wesleyan is currently ranked first in both.
After a visit to Wilkes University for a non-conference match Wednesday night at 7 p.m., the Ducks return to Hoboken for Homecoming and Empire 8 rival Nazareth College Saturday at 12 p.m. Saturday's match will feature a free community-wide BBQ and other great events on campus.
