Men’s Soccer Tops East Regional Rankings; Ducks No. 4/5 in National Polls

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 30, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team is ranked No. 1 in the East Region according to the latest from the National Collegiate Athletic Association, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
This marks the second-straight week Ducks have topped the all-important D3 Regional Ranks.

Wheaton (Ill.) is atop the Central Region, Ohio Wesleyan leads the Great Lakes, Messiah is No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic, Amherst tops New England, Loras is first in the North, Rutgers-Camden leads the South and Puget Sound is No. 1 in the West ranks.
 
Stevens is currently 13-1-1 overall, 13-0-1 in the region and 5-0 in the Empire 8. The Ducks will be the No. 1 seed in the Empire 8 Championship, hosting a semifinal in Hoboken Wednesday, November 6 at 4 p.m. Prior that match against a TBD opponent, Stevens will battle Empire 8 rival Ithaca College on Senior Day at the De Baun Athletic Complex in a key match if the Ducks want to hold on to their Regional Ranking.
 
On the back of a 2-0 week, the Ducks are currently ranked fourth in the nation by D3Soccer.com and fifth in the nation by the NSCAA.
 
Statistically, the Ducks can be found all over the nation's elite. They are fourth in goals-against average, eighth in winning percentage, 12th in shutout percentage, 22nd in scoring offense, and 29th in points per game. They crack the top-50 in eight different categories and lead the Empire 8 in nine barometers.
 
Individually, senior goalkeeper Paul Killian (Ellicott City, Md.) checks in at No. 5 in the nation in goals-against average, and sophomore forward Carson Pryor (St. Louis, Mo.) is No. 48 in goals per game. Killian also cracks to the top-50 save percentage No. 45.
