2012-13 Men's Basketball Championship Program
HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 22, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team won the regular-season Empire 8 title and will host the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Championship Friday and Saturday in the Canavan Arena.
 
The top-seeded Ducks will host fourth-seeded Utica College Friday at 6 p.m. in one semifinal, while second-seeded Ithaca College and third-seeded St. John Fisher College will square off in the other semifinal starting at 8 p.m. The two winners will battle for the Empire 8 crown and the conference's automatic berth to the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men's Basketball Championship Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
 
The Ducks have defeated Utica both times the two teams saw each other during the regular season, but the Pioneers have won seven of their last eight games and four in a row. Stevens is 21-4 overall and finished with an 11-3 conference record. Utica is 12-13 overall and was 8-6 in the Empire 8.
 
Prior to the game “Stevens Athletics” beanies will be given away, there will be free food and a face painting station. During halftime there will be contests for Stevens prize packs and trivia for Qdoba gift cards.
 
All Stevens students, staff and faculty with ID can get into the games for free. General admission is $5 with seniors and other students being $3. Children under 12 years of age are free.
