Men’s Fencing Faces Four DI School at Sollee Invitational

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 2, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team competed at the Sollee Invitational hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Sunday. Stevens went winless in six matches which included four NCAA Division I institutions.

The Ducks' best performances from the six matches was sophomore Jorge Rojas (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), who went 15-5 overall in the foil events. Senior epeeist Billy Dannhauser (Fairfield, Conn.) posted a 10-8 mark throughout the day.

Despite losing all six matches, Stevens held strong against DI counterparts Boston College, 15-12, and Duke University, 17-10. The Ducks also went toe-to-toe with Brandeis University, 15-10, and host MIT, 15-12, but were on the wrong end of the ledger.

In the other two showdowns, Stevens fell to Brown University, 21-6, and the University of Pennsylvania, 19-8.

The Ducks will be back in action on February 10 in their lone home tournament of the season beginning at 8 a.m.
