Spencer Waybright (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior midfielder
Kara Rafferty (Bayshore, N.Y.) recorded 10 points apiece to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team to a 20-8 win at Fairleigh Dickinson University – Florham on a windy Wednesday afternoon at Shields Field in Madison, N.J.
After taking a 9-6 lead into the locker room at halftime, Stevens (2-1) outscored the Devils 11-2 over final 30 minutes, notching the team's second 20-goal output in three games this season. The Ducks actually rang the bell five times over a span of 1:38 early in the second period to turn a three-goal lead to eight (14-6) and essentially put the game away with 26:14 left.
Rafferty started the run with an unassisted score with 27:52 on the clock, and Waybright followed with a score 48 seconds later. Freshman
Mackenzie Swartout (Rochester, N.Y.) made it 12-6 Ducks at the 26:40 mark, with Waybright feeding Rafferty 11 ticks later. Waybright closed the run unassisted at 26:14.
Senior midfielder
Joey Galligan (Burlingame, Calif.) scored after the Devils trimmed the Stevens lead to seven (14-7), and Rafferty rang the bell again to make it 16-7 with 19:49 on the clock.
After FDU scored its final goal, Waybright found net one more time and Rafferty three more times as the Ducks cruised to the 20-8 win over the final 15-plus minutes of the second period.
In the first half Waybright, started the scoring 2:24 in, and after the Devils briefly took a 2-1 lead, Waybright tied the score and freshman midfielder
Erica Wilcox (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) recorded back-to-back goals over a span of just 13 seconds to give the Ducks a 4-2 margin.
Senior
Katie Rolwood (South Brunswick, N.J.) tallied the second of her four goals on the afternoon to bring FDU (1-3) within one, but Stevens went on to notch five of the next six scores to open a 9-4 edge with 2:33 left in the opening period. Waybright had seven goals, three assists and a game-high seven draw controls, and Rafferty notched a career-high eight goals and two helpers. Swartout and Wilcox each had two scores with Swartout adding four ground balls and Wilcox securing a pair of draws. Sophomore defender

Meg Collins (Marshfield, Mass.) had a nice game between the pipes for the Ducks with 11 saves to earn her second win of the season. Her counterpart, sophomore

Rolwood led the hosts across the board with four goals, five draw controls and four caused turnovers.
