ELMIRA, N.Y. (April 6, 2013) – Six different players scored goals and the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team notched seven of the eight tallies in the second half en route to a 12-6 victory over Elmira College Saturday afternoon at Campus Field.
With the win, Stevens moves to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8. Elmira drops to 0-2 in the conference and 4-5 overall.
After falling behind 4-0 12:12 into the game, Stevens roared back with five-straight tallies to take a 5-4 advantage with 6:16 to play in the half. Sophomore attack
Caitlyn Hughes (Randolph, N.J.) started the run with two goals exactly two minutes apart, and senior midfielder
Spencer Waybright (West Hartford, Conn.) made it a 4-3 game with her first after a feed from freshman midfielder

Mackenzie Swartout (Rochester, N.Y.) put away a pass from junior midfielder
Kara Rafferty (Bayshore, N.Y.) to tie the game at four and 38 seconds later Waybright tallied to give the Ducks their first lead of the game.
Elmira answered to tie the game at five with 3:22 in the first and that is how the score remained through intermission.
Wilcox opened the second half scoring, finding the back of the net unassisted with 26:42 to play and giving the Ducks a lead they would never relinquish. Rafferty scored 3:28 later for a 7-5 Stevens advantage, and following an Elmira score, the Ducks closed the game with five-straight tallies to earn the 12-6 win.

Joey Galligan (Burlingame, Calif.), Waybright and Hughes all recorded markers in over the final 15 minutes, clinching the Ducks' second-straight win.
Hughes finished with three goals, one assist and two ground balls, and Waybright had three scores, one helper, four ground balls, four caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls. Rafferty had a pair of tallies, two assists, two ground balls and a team-high four draw controls, while Swartout scored twice, had two ground balls, one caused turnover and one draw control. Wilcox had three points (1 goal, two assists) and a ground ball, and Galligan had one goal, two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.

Amanda Ingersoll (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had three caused turnovers, one draw control, one assist and three ground balls. Sophomore defender

Gabriela Sanchez (Auburn, N.H.) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while freshman defender
Amanda Kowalski (Sparta, N.J.) notched four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Senior
Meg Collins (Marshfield, Mass.) stopped six shots to give her 20 saves in the last two games and only 10 goals against.
Stevens ended the contest with a 34-17 margin in ground balls and a 28-16 margin in shots. Each team controlled 10 draws.
