Spencer Waybright (West Hartford, Conn.) became the sixth player in the program history to accumulate 200 points Sunday as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team improved to 2-1 in the Empire 8 and 6-6 overall with a 16-3 rout of Alfred University.
Coming into the game, Waybright needed five points for 200 and ended with eight behind five goals and three assists. Her 200th came 15:59 into the game on a goal assisted by freshman
Mackenzie Swartout (Rochester, N.Y.) and gave the Ducks a 10-0 advantage.
Stevens dominated from the opening draw all the way through the final whistle, keeping Alfred off the scoreboard throughout the first 33:38 of the game. Waybright finished with five goals (on just six shots), three assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover, and junior midfielder
Kara Rafferty (Bayshore, N.Y.) had seven points behind three tallies, four assists, a game-high eight draw controls and two caused turnovers. Freshman
Jaimie Mastrogiacomo (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) notched a pair of scores and one ground ball, with freshman midfielder
Erika Wilcox (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Swartout getting two points on a goal and an assist. Sophomore

Junior
Mel Welcome (Winsted, Conn.) made three saves and did not allow a goal in 30 minutes of action to earn the win. Junior
Sarah Prall (Lancaster, Pa.) made four stops in her 30 minutes for the Ducks.
Stevens ended the game with a 30-13 margin on shots and committed just eight turnovers. The Ducks converted all 11 of their clear attempts and held a slight 11-10 edge in draw controls. The Ducks also had a 14-13 advantage in ground balls.
Waybright opened the scoring 3:20 into the game as the Ducks lead swelled to 12-0 with 3:25 left in the first. The Saxons (3-3 overall, 0-3 Empire 8) scored early in the second and finished with three total tallies.
After dropping four-straight games, the Ducks have now won three in a row to even their record at 6-6 and are 2-1 in the conference.
