LA CROSSE, Wis. (May 25, 2013) – Stevens Institute of Technology freshman
Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) of the women's outdoor track & field team competed in the 5,000-meter run on the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wis. on Saturday evening. Regan took 10th overall in the race and narrowly missed becoming an All-American by two positions.
The top eight runners in the event earn All-America recognition. Regan came in 10 seconds behind the eighth place runner with a time of 17:04.69 and was just one second off her personal best time which qualified Regan for nationals.
She came into the finals race seeded 13th and improved her position by three competitors in a field of 22. The top six runners in the race all topped the Roger Harring Stadium record of 16:43.38. The University of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh's Christy Cazzola claimed the national championship with a final time of 16:31.17.
Regan was just two seconds behind Cazzola after the 10th split (out of 13) during the race (12:56.056 to 12:54.056).
“Amy ran a tough race against a very competitive field. She kept herself in position to be All-American for over two miles and they slowly pulled away. This has been a great learning experience and I am sure it will help in her future races.” said head coach

Wartburg College won the women's team national championship with 46 points, while Wisconsin-La Crosse claimed the men's title with 66 points.
