MADISON, N.J. (September 18, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team improved to 3-2 on the season thanks to a 2-1 overtime win at FDU-Florham Wednesday night.
The pair that swept offensive and defensive Player of the Week honors from the Empire 8 put in the game-winner 5:01 into overtime to seal the come-from-behind win. On the play, senior forward
Marguerite Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) inserted to senior back
Megan Traub (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) on a penalty corner and Traub's shot found its way in for the game-winner. It was the fourth goal and fourth assist in the last two games for the pair.
After a scoreless first half, FDU (3-3) went ahead 2:39 into the second. The Ducks gathered themselves, and responded with another pair of seniors getting the guests on the scoreboard at the 45:01 mark.

Rachel Chavez (Oceanport, N.J.) was able to control the ball, slide it across the circle to senior back
Grace Ridge (Moorestown, N.J.) at the stroke line who tallied her first goal of the season.
The Stevens defense played well throughout, with senior back
Katie Achilles (Portsmouth, N.H.) anchoring the unit. Sophomore
Briana DeGraaf (Bayville, N.J.) gave the Ducks quality minutes off the bench, while freshman midfielder
Nolie Prouty (Glendora, Calif.) was solid attacking along the right side.
Stevens was able to dominate the stat sheet, ending with a 17-5 margin in shots and a 12-3 edge in corners. Freshman
Emily Stukenborg (Stockholm, N.J.) made two saves to earn the win in net. In was Stukenborg's and the Ducks' first road game and road win of the season.
The Ducks will return to action on Saturday when they visit Hartwick College in a key Empire 8 showdown. Game-time is slated for 1 p.m. in Oneonta.
