Men’s Fencing Home for MACFA Round Robin Sunday

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 8, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing program will host a MACFA Round Robin Sunday in the Canavan Arena beginning at 10 a.m.
 
Sunday will feature the Ducks fencing against four teams as a total of five are present at the event in Hoboken – Army, Yeshiva, Hunter, NJIT and Stevens.
 
The Ducks come into Sunday with an overall record of 17-8 against some of the toughest competition on the East Coast.
 
"We scheduled very tough this year," Head Coach Jim Carpenter said. "We want to prepare our guys to fence well in the postseason and gain the necessary power points necessary for a real shot at the NCAA Championships.
 
Last weekend, the Ducks went 2-3 overall at the Eric Sollee Invitational against top programs like MIT, Brandeis, Brown and Boston College. It was the team's first competition since December 8, and junior Jorge Rojas earned national recognition on www.CollegeFencing360.com.
 
The action in Canavan arena will begin around 10 a.m. and should end in the neighborhood of 2 p.m. Fans looking to attend the event can entire the Schaefer Center via the main doors, and the tournament is free for all.
