HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 16, 2014) – Winners of two of the last three, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team will look to continue its home win streak tomorrow against Vassar College.
Game time is set for 4 p.m. at the De Baun Athletic Complex, and the student government association will be sponsoring a free barbeque starting at 5 p.m.
SCOUTING VASSAR The Brewers bring a 5-1-1 record to Hoboken with their only loss coming Saturday to No. 5 SUNY Oneonta. Junior Cosmo Veneziale has scored three times and added an assist to lead the team in points, while senior Justin Mitchell is second with four. Eleven different players have scored so far this season for the Brewers
In goal, sophomore Adam Warner has 17 saves in seven starts.
RIVALRY RENEWED Stevens and Vassar played each other five straight seasons from 2005-2009 with the Ducks winning all five by a combined score of 20-1. The last matchup came Sep. 9, 2009 where the Ducks won 4-0 in Hoboken.
PRYOR PROWESS With a team-leading six points, junior
Carson Pryor has scored or assisted in four of the first five games for the Ducks this season. Since transferring to Stevens prior to the 2013 season, the junior has scored or assisted in 18 of 25 games.
RENNA REPORT After recording his first career shutout a week ago against The College of New Jersey, sophomore goalie
Mike Renna was named the Empire 8 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Renna has now saved 13 shots over the past three games while only allowing two goals.
Sophomore
Chris Renna has connected on both shots he's taken so far on goal while also adding an assist. The forward currently sits second on the team with five points.
