UNION, N.J. (September 6, 2014)
 – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team poured in four second-half goals en route to a 5-4 come-from-behind win at Kean University on Saturday afternoon in Union, N.J.

With the win, Stevens improves to 1-2. Kean drops to 3-1 in defeat.

Trailing 4-1 just 2:32 into the second half, the Ducks were able to tally four unanswered goals to earn their first win of the season. Junior midfielder Erin SIlvestri put the Ducks up 1-0 in the 24th minute, but the hosts ran off two-straight scores late in the first to take a 2-1 margin into the intermission. Junior Dailyn Brook notched the assist on the Silvestri marker, inserting to her classmate for a blast from the top of the circle.

Kean notched two goals just 21 seconds apart early in the second half before Stevens swung the momentum and began its comeback.

At 41:50, the Ducks began to climb back, getting a score from freshman forward Victoria Alvarez. On the play, the rookie was able to tame a rebound and find the back of the cage. Just 55 seconds later, Brook got on the board, fighting for and controlling a loose ball in front before notching her second goal of the year.

Alvarez pulled Stevens even with her second of the game and third of the year thanks to another Brook assist from a penalty corner at 45:05.

The two teams played scoreless hockey over the next 23:31 before Silvestri's second gave Stevens the lead with 1:24 left. The goal was assisted by Brook and again came thanks to a penalty-corner-insert. It was the Ducks' third goal resulting from a penalty corner in the game.

"I'm very proud of how the team fought today for the entire 70 minutes," Head Coach Emily Beach said. "They never gave up and showed incredible character. Moving forward we will look to clean up a few things and continue to get better every day."

Stevens goalie Emily Stukenborg made a career-high 18 saves for the Ducks in an excellent performance for the second-year starter. Kean finished with a 35-29 margin in shots, but the Ducks took 16 to the Cougars' 15 in the second period. Kean also finished the contest with a 17-13 edge in penalty corners.

Stevens will look to even its record when the Ducks host Drew University Wednesday afternoon at the DeBaun Athletic Complex. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
