Women’s Volleyball Looks For Sixth Straight Win

HOBOKEN, N.J. (OCTOBER 6, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team (11-8) looks for its sixth straight victory as they travel to Vassar College Wednesday night.

TRENDING UPWARD
After falling to Endicott College on September 19, the Ducks have only dropped two sets during their winning streak. Three of the matches have been pivotal Empire 8 Conference contests, moving the team to 3-0 in E8 play.

HITTING THE MARK
Junior Mary Tobin and sophomore Sydni Horner both recorded milestones over the weekend. Against Utica College Friday, Tobin notched her 1000th career kill, becoming only the fifth person in women's volleyball history to reach the mark. Horner recorded the 1000th dig of her career in Saturday's match against Western Connecticut State University. The Columbia, Md. native is the ninth person to record 1,000 digs in school history.

SETTING THE TONE
Senior Catie Shelton and freshman Brianna Perez have shared time at the setter position in 2015. In 58 sets, Shelton has handed out 476 assists, good for sixth in the Empire 8. Perez has chipped in 159 assists during her first year on Castle Point.

RETURN TO FORM
Sophomore Brianna Evans showed why she was named Empire 8 Conference tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2014 with her performance in both matches Saturday. Against Western Connecticut, she pounded home 16 kills and three service aces. In the other match against Marietta College, she recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs.

MILESTONE WATCH
Tobin is closing in 1,000 career digs, needing 24 more. She would be become the third person to join the 1,000 kill-1,000 dig club. On Monday, the Boothwyn, Pa. native was named E8 player of the week.
