Men’s Soccer Readies For NCAA Tournament

HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 13, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team will battle Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Saturday in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.

REGIONAL INFO
The Ducks first round match is slated for 7:30 p.m. on the campus of Brandeis University. A win would pit Stevens against either No. 3 Brandeis, or Thomas College on Sunday at 5 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks blanked Ithaca College 1-0 Saturday to capture their ninth straight Empire 8 Conference Championship. Senior Carson Pryor provided the Ducks scoring with a goal, and was named the championship's most valuable player.

SCOUTING REPORT
RPI finished its season with an 11-4-3 record en route to earning an at-large bid to the tournament. Devon Baughen led the Engineers with 23 points off nine goals and an assist, while Ryan Nealon made 56 saves with eight shutouts.

FAMILIAR TERRITORY
This will be the Ducks 13th consecutive appearance in the tournament, and 14th overall. Stevens has reached at least the second round every season since 2008.

THEY MEET AGAIN
Stevens last faced RPI in the 2008 tournament, where the Ducks advanced after a 1-0 win.

EMPEROR OF THE EMPIRE
Senior Colin Phillips was named the E8's player of the year Wednesday after a season in which he led the Ducks with 35 points, and the conference with five game-winning goals. Phillips is the eighth consecutive Duck to review the honor.

DUCKS DEFENSE
Led by seniors Harrison Kane and Jeff Althoff, the Stevens defense hasn't allowed more than one goal in five of its last six matches. The Ducks led the conference this season in goals against average.

PRYOR PROWESS
Pryor led the Ducks this season with 16 goals while finishing second with 33 points. His season was rewarded Wednesday with his selection to the all-conference second team.

RENNA REPORT
Junior keeper Mike Renna tallied his sixth shutout of the season with Saturday's E8 championship win. Renna finished second in the conference in goals against average and shutouts, and was named honorable mention all-conference.
