HOBOKEN, N.J. (December 11, 2015) – The No. 12 Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team (4-1) will close out the 2015 portion of its schedule Saturday with three matches at the Waynesburg Duals.
DUALS INFOThe Ducks will open the day with an 11 a.m. match against No. 16 Baldwin Wallace University before a 12:30 p.m. match with Waynesburg University, and a 2 p.m. match with West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
LAST TIME OUTLed by a first place finish for junior
Colin Navickas at 165 lbs., the Ducks took
second place last weekend at the two-day Messiah-Petrofes Invitational.
SCOUTING REPORTWith two wins against top-30 opponents, Baldwin Wallace features a pair of All-Americans on its roster in addition to two additional career national qualifiers. Waynesburg's lineup includes four who've accumulated at least 11 wins this season, while WVU Tech's Tristan Bean took fourth at Messiah last weekend at 125 lbs.
CONFERENCE LEADERNavickas was named Centennial Conference
Wrestler of the Week Monday after leading the Ducks with his title at Messiah. The honor was the second of the season for the Ducks.
UNBEATENSophomore
A.J. Kowal is the Ducks lone undefeated wrestler this season at 13-0, while the Ohio native is also tied for the team lead with five pins.
WORTMAN WINSJunior
Leo Wortman pushed his season win total to 17 last weekend after taking third place at 157 lbs., and is tied with Kowal as the Ducks pin leader.
DOMINANT DUCKIn addition to his team-leading 18 wins, Navickas is also the Ducks leader with four technical fall wins.
