No. 17 Ithaca Tops Men’s Lacrosse

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 25, 2015) – Sophomore Connor McKeon scored four goals Saturday in a 16-12 loss to No. 17 Ithaca College on senior day in Empire 8 Conference men's lacrosse action.

The loss dropped Stevens to 9-7 (5-3) while Ithaca moved to (12-4, 7-1).

Senior Michael Maroon and junior Andrew Scrutchfield each scored twice while senior JP Giroux and junior Matt Ferentini each added two assists. Junior Brett Incollingo tallied 11 ground balls as the Ducks primary faceoff man.

Stevens outshot Ithaca 51-44 and was successful on 14-18 clears.

McKeon got the Ducks started early with a goal off a feed from Giroux two minutes into the game before adding another one minute later to put the Ducks up 2-1. Both teams went back-and-forth from there before two straight from the Ducks in the closing five minutes of the quarter gave Stevens the two goal lead.

Ithaca climbed back, tying the game at six early in the second before connecting on a score with just over a minute remaining into the half to send them into the break up one.

Ferentini knotted the score early in the third with an unassisted score before McKeon and Maroon continued the run with goals over the next two minutes. Giroux extended the lead to three off a feed from sophomore Tim Leahey, but the Bombers responded with two straight to cut the deficit to one.

Junior Colin Sawula ended the Ithaca in the closing seconds of the third, but Ithaca scored seven of the next eight to clinch the win.

With the regular season now over, the Ducks will wait to see what their E8 seeding will be based on how games finish today.
