HOBOKEN, N.J. (SEPTEMBER 10, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will take on a trio of ranked teams as they participate in the Asics Invitational hosted by Juniata College Friday and Saturday.
WEDNESDAY REWINDBehind the swing of junior
Mary Tobin, the Ducks knocked off Hunter College in straight sets 25-22, 25-23, 25-22. Tobin finished with 18 kills and seven digs while senior
Catie Shelton handed out 31 assists.
SETTING THE TONEIn her first year as the primary setter, Shelton has thrived, dishing out 162 assists over 17 sets. Her 9.53 assists rank first in the Empire 8 Conference.
TELL THE WORLD I'M COMING HOMEOn Friday, the Ducks will take on No. 5 Juniata at 4 p.m. The match is a homecoming for head coach
Glenn DeHaven, who won four national championships as a student-athlete for the Juniata men's volleyball team from 2004-07, and one as an assistant coach in 2009.
PULLING RANKIn addition to taking on the Eagles, Stevens will battle No. 16 Clarkson University and No. 18 University of Mount Union this weekend. The fourth team on the schedule this weekend, the University of Mary Washington are receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
REMATCHOn Saturday, the Ducks and Clarkson square off in a rematch of the NCAA Tournament Regional Final from 2014. Stevens will no doubt look to have a different result this time out, as last fall it was Golden Knights who won in four sets.
