Women’s Volleyball Gearing Up For Asics Invitational

HOBOKEN, N.J. (SEPTEMBER 10, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will take on a trio of ranked teams as they participate in the Asics Invitational hosted by Juniata College Friday and Saturday.

WEDNESDAY REWIND
Behind the swing of junior Mary Tobin, the Ducks knocked off Hunter College in straight sets 25-22, 25-23, 25-22. Tobin finished with 18 kills and seven digs while senior Catie Shelton handed out 31 assists.

SETTING THE TONE
In her first year as the primary setter, Shelton has thrived, dishing out 162 assists over 17 sets. Her 9.53 assists rank first in the Empire 8 Conference.

TELL THE WORLD I'M COMING HOME
On Friday, the Ducks will take on No. 5 Juniata at 4 p.m. The match is a homecoming for head coach Glenn DeHaven, who won four national championships as a student-athlete for the Juniata men's volleyball team from 2004-07, and one as an assistant coach in 2009.

PULLING RANK
In addition to taking on the Eagles, Stevens will battle No. 16 Clarkson University and No. 18 University of Mount Union this weekend. The fourth team on the schedule this weekend, the University of Mary Washington are receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

REMATCH
On Saturday, the Ducks and Clarkson square off in a rematch of the NCAA Tournament Regional Final from 2014. Stevens will no doubt look to have a different result this time out, as last fall it was Golden Knights who won in four sets.
