HOBOKEN, N.J. (SEPTEMBER 12, 2015) – Freshman
Zisi Komar scored with 1:24 remaining in the second overtime to give the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team a 2-1 win over Vassar College in the first game of the 12
th Annual Engineering Cup.
With the win in double overtime, Stevens receives five points in the Cup standings, while Vassar earned two.
Komar put two shots on goal in the first 11 minutes before junior
Raba Nassif opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Nassif made nifty deke around a defender and deposited the ball in the upper part of the goal for her third tally of the year.
The Ducks (3-1) continued to pressure Vassar, putting 11 shots toward Brewers keeper Emma Nichols in the opening 45 minutes. The Brewers (2-2) got the goal back as Rebecca Andrews scored off a pass from Jessica Schwed to even the match in the 38
th minute.

Olivia Butera rifled a shot high in the 66
th minute and sophomore
Megan Lynes had a header cleared off the back line in the 78
th minute. The best chance of the period belonged to Komar, who had a header glance off the post in minute 85.
After little action in the first overtime, Vassar was assessed a yellow card in the 109
th minute. Senior
Carly Bean took possession after the initial free kick attempt and sent a ball into the box. Komar was able to get her head on the ball and send it past Nichols for her third goal of the season.
Komar and Nassif combined for 15 shots in the contest, with Bean putting two of her three attempts on net. Sophomore
Lindsey Mahnken made two saves, but was active in picking off crosses off corner attempts.
Audrey Pillsbury had two shots for the visitors, with Nichols making nine saves.
The Ducks will take on New York University tomorrow at 3:30, while Vassar battles Whitman College at 12:30.
