Women’s Soccer Doubles Up Farmingdale, 6-3

HOBOKEN, N.J. (SEPTEMBER 23, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer received goals from five different players en route to a 6-3 win over Farmingdale State University Wednesday.

The win moved the Ducks to 5-2 while Farmingdale fell to 2-4-1.

The Rams struck first in the 15th minute as Amanda Khare headed in a corner from Ashlee Thompson to put the visitors up one. Freshman Zisi Komar knotted the game at one as she corralled her own miss and deposited into the back of the net for her fourth of the season.

Just 1:53 later, sophomore Sammy Mount was able to redirect a free kick attempt from senior Kristen Goncalves to give the Ducks their first lead of the contest. In the 27th minute, junior Gabby Mathelier scored her first of year as Goncalves collected her second helper of the match.

A scrum inside the 18-yard box resulted in a pair of saves by keeper Breanna Blair, but she couldn't make the third save as Komar knocked home a pass from senior Carly Bean and tallied her team-leading fifth goal of the year.

The Rams cut the lead in the half on the second shot of the second stanza, as Alexandria Tudisco headed home a corner kick from Ashley Guerrero. In the 66th minute, Mathelier fired a shot that was stopped, but Bean was there on the doorstep and poked the rebound past the keeper.

Stevens capped their scoring 14 minutes later, as sophomore Gabby Pagkalinawan tallied her first career goal with freshman Misha Brewster notching her first collegiate point with the assist. Farmingdale added a goal 1:10 later, but that would be as close as they would get.

Komar led the way with seven shots while Bean and Mathelier each recorded four. Sophomore Lindsey Mahnken and senior Evelyn Ting combined to make six saves in net, with Mahnken recording her fifth victory of the year.

Guerrero registered six shots while Blair made seven stops in the defeat.

Stevens is back in action Saturday on the road for an Empire 8 showdown with Ithaca College at 12 p.m.
