HOBOKEN, N.J. (SEPTEMBER 30, 2015) – Senior
Carly Bean tallied two goals to lead the Stevens Institute women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over Drew University Wednesday.
The Ducks, who are unbeaten in their last four contests, improved to 6-2-1 on the season. The loss dropped the Rangers to 3-6-1.
Bean put the home team on the board just 16 seconds into the opening frame as she knocked home a cross from freshman
Zisi Komar. The goal was the second fastest in program history, with Alicia Vandersluis holding the record of 10 seconds set back on October 11, 2006.
The Ducks kept peppering the Rangers for the remainder of the first half, attempting 18 shots to their opponents five. Bean tallied her first multi-goal game of the season as she headed home a pass from freshman
Olivia Butera in the 27
th minute.
With just over three minutes left in the first half, sophomore
Gabby Pagkalinawan notched her second goal in the past three games as she grabbed control of a rebound and deposited in behind the keeper. Drew was able to put all five of their attempts on net in the first 45 minutes, but sophomore
Lindsey Mahnken stopped all five.
Mahnken gave way to freshman
Madi Chollett in the second half. The newcomer was able to record three stops in her collegiate debut. As the clock was ticking towards zero, freshman
Misha Brewster took a long pass from Komar and scored with three seconds remaining for the first goal of her career.
Junior
Raba Nassif tallied an assist and led the team with seven shots while Komar had three assists on six shots.
Meghan McDermott, Emma Campbell and Katie Weber combined to fire nine of the teams 10 shots and goalie Sara Nash made seven stops for the Rangers.
The Ducks continue Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday when they take on Elmira College at 3 p.m.
