BETHLEHEM, Pa. (SEPTEMBER 5, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team fell to #12 Eastern University before rebounding with a three set victory over Dickinson College Saturday.
With the split, the Ducks are now 3-1 on the short season.
#12 Eastern 3, Stevens 0 (20-25, 12-25, 13-25)Sophomore
Mckenzie Kingsbury hit .429 over the three sets with three kills and a pair of block assists, while senior
Catie Shelton handed out 19 assists, including the 400
th of her career. Sophomore
Mary Tobin had 10 digs while sophomore
Sydni Horner led the way with 16.
Stevens 3, Dickinson 0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-19)The Ducks rebounded well, hitting .290 as team while recording five total blocks and holding Dickinson to just a .075 attack percentage. Freshman
Emily Piekarski led the way with 13 kills and eight digs, with Kingsbury notching six kills from her middle position.
Senior
Annemarie Thomas made her presence felt at the net, contributing four block assists. Tobin, Shelton and Horner each had three service aces in Coach DeHaven's 80
th career victory at Stevens. Horner was chosen as part of the Greyhound Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Stevens is back in action Wednesday, September 9 when they travel across the river to battle Hunter College at 6 p.m.
