Men’s Basketball Hosts Crucial E8 Tilts This Weekend

HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 14, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team (5-5, 2-2) will open up a six-game home-stand this weekend with Empire 8 Conference matchups against Houghton College and Alfred University.  

WEEKEND INFO
Friday's game with Houghton is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off, while Saturday's matchup will start at 3 p.m. Both games will take place in Canavan Arena. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks saw their two-game win streak snapped last Saturday in a double-digit road loss to Hartwick College. 

SCOUTING REPORT
Since starting the season 4-1, Houghton (5-7, 0-4) has lost five of its last six to put it at the bottom the E8 standings. The Highlanders feature four scorers who are averaging double-figures, led by 14.7 points per game for Brandon Camacho.

Alfred (6-7, 2-2) is coming off 10-point loss to St. John Fisher College, and features the E8's sixth leading scorer in Tyler Seelman (18.9 ppg).

CANAVAN COMFORT
The Ducks are undefeated in Canavan Arena this season, winning by an average margin of 22 points per game. Dating back to last season, Stevens has won five of its last six at home. 

DUCKS DUO
At 19.5 and 19.3 points per game, juniors Evan Klimchak and Patrick Barron are the E8's highest scoring duo.

KEEP THE STREAK
Stevens is 6-0 against Houghton since the Highlanders joined the conference in 2012.

NATIONALLY RANKED
As of Wednesday, the Ducks featured the ninth highest scoring offense in all of NCAA Division III at 92.9 points per game.

STE… FOR THREE
At just under 40 percent, Stevens is the best three point shooting team in the E8. Barron leads the conference with 47 from beyond the arc.

Sophomore Chris Cosgrove has scored in double-figures in nine of the Ducks last 10 games.
