HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 16, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team saw every player score at least two points in a 81-36 victory over Alfred University Saturday.
The Ducks (10-4, 6-0 Empire Conference) rushed out of the gates, scoring the first 18 points of the evening, capped off by a layup from senior
Megan Petuskey. By the end of the first 10 minutes, the Ducks had jumped out to a 23-6 lead.
Senior
Dylan Krause had four of the first six points to open the second frame. The Saxons (1-14, 0-6 E8) scored 17 points in the second quarter, with McKaylee Croll scoring eight of her 10 points over the first 20 minutes. Senior
Miranda Ripken led all scorers with 12 points in the first half.
The staunch Duck defending held Alfred to a mere 13 points in the second half, limiting the visitors to 21.4% from the field on six field goals. Freshman
Elena Sanchez scored all of her career-high eight points in the second half, and Petuskey contributed five points in the final 20.
Ripken led the Ducks with 14 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals. Freshman
Megan Anderson knocked down her only three-pointer of the game, and also hauled in a trio of rebounds. Sophomore
Anna Toke and Astel joined Sanchez in scoring eight points, with Toke pulling down five rebounds.
Amanda Off had 13 points and eight rebounds, while Katlyn Boland had six points and six rebounds.
The Ducks will be back in action Monday night, traveling to take on No. 9/11 Muhlenberg College.
