RESULTS
HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 30, 2016) – The No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team rolled to a 170-91 victory over Hartwick College.
Stevens picked up its third dual-meet win of the season, finishing with wins over Rowan University, The College of New Jersey and Hartwick.
The Ducks started off strong, finishing first and second in the 200-yard medley relay. Senior
Elizabeth Heinbach placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, notching a time of 10:59.57, while freshman
Courtney Jones, junior
Claire Hendershot and sophomore
Abigail Kuhn nabbed the top-3 spots in the 100-back.
Seniors
Elena Piper and
Katlyn Christenson placed first and second respectively in the 100-back, and sophomore
Sarah Jurczyk broke her own pool record in the 200-fly. Her time of 2:09.91 was almost a full second faster than her previous record, set earlier this year. Senior
Jennifer Rutledge was tops in the 50-freestyle, notching a time of 25.50.
Jones and Christenson registered the top-2 spots in the 100-freestyle, with sophomore Katelynn Prescott and Piper finishing 1-2 in the 200-breaststroke. Junior
Danielle Caruso took home first place in the 500-freestyle, and Jurczyk won her second event of the day in the 100-fly, recording a time of 59.21.
Caruso, Jones, Jurczyk and Heinbach ended the afternoon with a first place time of 3:44.5 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Prior to the meet, the Ducks honored Alexandra Borelli, Christenson, Heinbach, Piper and Rutledge as part of the Senior Day festivities.
The Ducks will be back in action on February 6, taking part in the New York University Invitational.
