Women’s Basketball Looks For Third Straight Win Thursday

HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 6, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team goes for its third straight Empire 8 Conference victory Thursday, taking on Utica College.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Canavan Arena.

BEAT THE STREAK
On Sunday, the Ducks topped Ithaca College 84-63 for their first E8 win of the season. Furthermore, it was the first time in nine meetings Stevens has topped the Bombers, dating back to the E8 Championship game in 2011.

MONDAY FUNDAY
Stevens followed up their Sunday win with a 70-55 triumph over Elmira College Monday. It was the Ducks eighth straight win over the Soaring Eagles.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Sophomore Megan Brown recorded her third and fourth double-doubles of the season during the last two games. Against Ithaca, Brown scored a career-best 15 points while pulling down 10 boards. On Monday, the Laurel, Md. native went for 12 points and 12 rebounds.

CRISS-KRAUSE
Senior Dylan Krause recorded a double-double of her own Monday, notching a season-high 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

EG-III
Junior Erica Guketlov matched a career-high with 18 points and four three-pointers against Ithaca. Guketlov also went for 18 in the season-opener against New York University. For the season, Guketlov is tied for ninth in the conference with 17 three pointers made.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Utica comes into the contest on a four game winning streak and are 6-4 on the year. On Tuesday, the Pioneers topped Alfred University 80-50 for its first conference win. Mary Miceli leads Utica with 15.3 points per game, while Ashelyne Babb averages 12.4 ppg.

BENCH MAKES IT MARK
On Monday, the Ducks received a huge lift from the reserve unit, getting 24 points off the bench. Sophomore Anna Toke and junior Daphne Ginn each had seven points, while fellow junior Ruth Waters had four.

FIRST TIMER
Freshman Elena Sanchez connected on her first career three point attempt late in the game Monday. Earlier this year, fellow classmate Megan Anderson scored on first career points on first three point opportunity.
