HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 11, 2016) – The No. 5 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer used three first half tallies to race past Farmingdale State 4-1 in non-conference action Wednesday.
The Ducks raised their record to 12-0-0 while Farmingdale dipped below the .500 mark, sitting at 6-7-3 on the season.
The Rams had a quality opportunity to break the scoreless tie in the 15th minute off a corner kick, but a header went wide. Stevens had four consecutive corner kicks before sophomore
Zisi Komar broke the deadlock. Senior
Raba Nassif sent a corner into the box that bounced around, and freshman
Gabriella Saade crossed a ball in front that Komar booted in.
In the 23rd minute, Nassif scored her first of the evening, taking a feed from freshman
Julia Panko and adding to her team leading goal total. The senior recorded her second of the contest in the 27th minute, knocking in a rebound off a missed shot. Farmingdale's best chance came in the 41st minute, but the shot attempt was snared by junior
Lindsey Mahnken.
The hosts got a goal back in the 65th minute, heading in a cross to cut the deficit back to two. That would be as close as the Rams would get, as they only put three more shots towards goal. With time ticking down, sophomore
Misha Brewster blasted home a Nassif cross from 15 yards out to establish the final 4-1 margin.
Nassif led the team with six shots to go along with the two goals and assist, while the unit held a 24-12 shot edge. Panko and Saade collected assists, while sophomore
Madi Chollett made two saves in the relief.
The Ducks will be back in action Saturday for Senior Day, battling Utica at 4 p.m.
