No. 5 Women’s Soccer Routs Utica On Senior Day

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 15, 2016) – Senior Raba Nassif scored four times and added an assist on Senior Day to lead the No. 5 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team to a 8-0 win over Utica.

Stevens moved to 13-0-0. 6-0-0 in the Empire 8 Conference while Utica fell to 2-11-0, 1-4-0 in the E8.

After a quiet eight minutes to begin the game, Nassif opened the scoring at the 8:07 mark as she took a long pass from freshman Julia Panko and beat the defense for her first of the game. Exactly three minutes later, the senior doubled her output, knocking home a cross from sophomore Zisi Komar.

Nassif completed the natural hat-trick in the 21st minute, corralling a high looping pass from Komar and beat the defense for her first hat trick of the year. Panko nearly extended the lead in the 25th minute, but Allison Wagner made the save. Komar and Panko each added tallies in the first half to give Stevens their highest first half output of the season.

In the 65th minute, Nassif matched her career-high with her fourth tally of the game, booting in a cross from Komar. Nine minutes later, classmate Gabby Mathelier took a feed from Nassif and belted a shot from 20 yards that eluded the keeper. With just over three minutes left, junior Sammy Mount got into the action and scored her first goal of the year.

Stevens out-shot Utica 38-2, and held a 7-0 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore Madi Chollett and junior Lindsey Mahnken shared the shutout, each playing 45 minutes.

The Ducks face a stiff road test Wednesday, traveling to Ewing, N.J. to battle No. 9 TCNJ.
