Dorsay And Masur Score In Men’s Soccer Win

HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 22, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team maintained its position near the top of the Empire 8 standings Saturday with a 2-1 win over Alfred in Hoboken.

The win moved Stevens to 9-5-1 (5-1-0), while Alfred fell to 7-7-2 (1-3-2).

Junior Tommy Dorsay and sophomore Andrew Masur each provided goals for Stevens, while freshman keeper Mitko Bozinov converted a pair of saves in net.

As a team, Stevens outshot Alfred 12-10 including a 7-3 margin in shots on goal.

Each side traded shots over the first nine minutes, before Stevens unleashed four unanswered to exert some offensive pressure. The Ducks continued the opportunities with Dorsay's header in the 39th minute, followed by the go-ahead score three minutes later form the veteran.

Off assists from sophomores Chris Cesario and Jimmy Doran, Dorsay sent a chip shot over Alfred keeper Chris Gutierrez for his fifth goal of the season.

Alfred connected on the equalizer in the opening minute of the second, but Stevens responded more than 25 minutes later with Masur's score set up by passes from Dorsay and sophomore Daniel Aversano.

The Saxons fired back with a trio of shots over the final 10 minutes, but the first two flew high as the third went wide to preserve Stevens' win.

The Ducks will wrap up their regular season home schedule Wednesday when they host Berkeley College at 7 p.m.
