HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 25, 2016) – The No. 9 Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team powered its way to a 5-3 victory of Western Connecticut Tuesday night in its final non-conference test of the fall. 

The win moved Stevens to 15-1-0, while West Conn. fell to 11-5-2.

Sophomore Zisi Komar and freshman Gabriella Saade each tallied five points off a pair of goals and an assist, while senior Raba Nassif contributed a goal and two assists. Senior keeper Lindsey Mahnken converted four saves in net to earn her 12th win of the season.

Stevens out-shot West Conn. 28-10, including a 17-7 margin in shots on goal. 

Stevens peppered West Conn. keeper Serena Gunter with three unanswered shots over the first seven minutes, before Saade connected 7:24 in. Off a pass from Komar, Nassif took control of the ball just to the left of the post, sending a cross to Saade who found an open net. 

West Conn. fought back with Autumn Sorice's score five minutes later, but Nassif responded in the 17th minute with her 20th goal of the season off a feed from senior Gabby Mathelier. 

The Colonials provided the response once again to tie match at two in the 28th, but Komar's score with 10 minutes to go on the clock sent Stevens into the locker room up 3-2. 

The Ducks continued to control possession into the second, before Saade connected on her second of the game with an unassisted score 20 minutes in. The rookie had an opportunity at her third in the 77th, but Gunter's diving stop prevented the lead from getting larger.

Saade did add another point when she assisted on Komar's second of the game with less than 15 minutes to go in regulation, feeding the sophomore from the middle of the zone. 

West Conn. inched closer with Sorice's goal three minutes later, but the damage was already done as Stevens held the Colonials to just one shot over the remainder of regulation to clinch the win.

Stevens will wrap up its regular season Saturday when it hosts Ithaca at noon in Hoboken.
