HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 26, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team dropped its second game in-a-row Wednesday night, 2-1 on the road at Stockton.
The loss dropped Stevens to 9-8, while Stockton evened its record at 8-8.
Senior
Nolie Prouty tallied Stevens' goal off an assist from junior
Cassidy O'Hearn, while senior goalie
Emily Stukenborg made three saves.
Stockton out-shot Stevens 8-7, although both teams tallied six shots on goal.
Stevens opened the contest with a pair of unanswered shots, but Stockton stopped them both before returning the favor with one of its own that was blocked by junior
Drew Lustig.
The Ospreys rattled off one more that Stukenborg stopped, before breaking through in the 28th minute with the go-ahead score. Stockton converted on another in the final minute of the half, putting the Ducks in a two-goal hole heading into halftime.
Prouty got the Ducks on the board 15 minutes into the second off a pass from O'Hearn, before Stevens unleashed a string of six penalty corners that failed to result in a score.
Juniors
Victoria Alvarez and
Haines Duff followed with a pair of shots in the 61st and 63rd minutes, but Stockton goalie Emily Sorochynskyj stopped both to preserve the home-team lead. Sorochynskyj made one more stop on junior
Katti Thomasian's last-minute attempt, sealing the Stevens loss.
The Ducks will wrap up their regular season Saturday when they travel to Washington and Jefferson for a 10 a.m. match.
