HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 27, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will look to close out its regular season in winning fashion this weekend with three matches in the New York State Regional Challenge.
WEEKEND INFO
Stevens opens the weekend with a Friday match against RIT, before two matches Saturday against Rochester and Rowan. All matches will be played at Hunter College.
LAST TIME OUT
Stevens completed a perfect regular season in the E8 last weekend with a pair of 3-0 wins over St. John Fisher and Alfred.
HISTORY LESSON
Stevens has won four of its last six in the NYS Challenge, including a 4-0 weekend last fall.
ROOKIE DUCK
Freshman
Sara Hain was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Week Monday for the second time this season after recording 23 kills with nine block assists. Hain enters the weekend fourth on the team with 189 kills for the season, and first in the E8 with a .370 hitting percentage.
SITTING PRETTY
Stevens clinched the top seed in next weekend's E8 championship with their wins last weekend. Stevens has earned hosting rights each season since 2013.
TOBIN TIME
With 24 more kills this weekend, Tobin moved her season total to a team-leading 292.
TRIPLE DIGITS
Senior
Christina Sciarra, senior
Sydni Horner and sophomore
Brianna Perez each went over 100 sets played for the season this weekend.
