HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 7, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team travels to Houghton for a pair of Empire 8 Conference matches Saturday.
MATCH INFO
The Ducks will take on host Houghton at 11 a.m. before playing Elmira at 1:30 p.m. all at the Nielsen Center in Houghton, N.Y.
LAST TIME OUT
Stevens picked up a huge regional win, topping Vassar in five sets Wednesday. With the victory, Stevens moved to 19-2 on the season.
HIGHLANDER REPORT
Houghton enters the tri-match with an even mark of 8-8, 2-2 in the Empire 8. The Highlanders topped Alfred and Hartwick in E8 action, falling to Nazareth and St. John Fisher.
ELMIRA RUNDOWN
The Soaring Eagles have only played nine matches, and are 4-5 overall. Within the E8, Elmira is 1-2 with losses to Fisher and Ithaca.
MIDDLE TAKEOVER
Freshman
Sara Hain had a career-high 15 kills while .429 against Vassar, while also adding six blocks. Classmate
Shelby Stewart slugged .421 with 10 kills and six total rejections in the five set thriller.
BIG BLOCK
One of biggest moments of the set three was the insertion of junior
Emily Singleton into the match. Right after being subbed in with the Ducks leading 20-19, Singleton and Hain teamed up for a big double-block to earn a point.
COMEBACK KIDS
The match Wednesday marked the second time this season the Ducks rallied back to win a match after surrendering the first set. Against Minnesota-Morris, the Stevens dropped the opening set before rallying for a four-set victory.
