HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 13, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team picked up six wins Sunday at the Vassar Invitational, including one against Division I power Sacred Heart.
The Ducks topped Sacred Heart 17-10, in addition to a 21-6 win over Wellesley, a 19-8 win over Incarnate Word, a 19-8 win over Tufts, a 22-5 win over CCNY, and a 24-3 win over Drew. Stevens' only losses came to Division I Cornell and Northwestern.
Sophomore
Julia Yang led all Stevens fencers with 18 wins at sabre, in addition to a 15-win day for sophomore
Michelle Drobish. Junior
Karen Kong went 13-5, and freshman
Phoebe Lai went 7-3. At foil, junior
Abby Kaye went 14-5 and freshman
Allison Urban-Spillane 14-8, while freshman
Caitlin Uang and freshman
Nicole Strezewski each went 6-5.
Sophomore
Julie McEldoon led the Ducks at epee with 12 wins, while sophomore
Amanda Choy and junior
Erin Hatcher won 10 and nine respectively.
Stevens will be back in action Thursday with the Columbia Duals where in addition to a matchup with Johns Hopkins, Stevens will also battle Division I power Columbia.
