Men’s Basketball Looks To Clinch Playoff Spot In Final Regular Season Games

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 18, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team will look to wrap-up a spot in next weekend's Empire 8 Conference Championship, with two games this weekend against Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College on the road. 

WEEKEND INFO
The Ducks will start the weekend Friday with a 6 p.m. matchup against Naz, before ending the regular season Saturday at 2 p.m. against Fisher.

LAST TIME OUT
Four players scored in double-figures Tuesday night in the Ducks 28-point victory over second place Hartwick College. The win snapped a five game losing streak against the Hawks, and avenged a 96-72 loss from earlier in the season.

EMPIRE'S BEST
Fisher and Naz enter the weekend in first and second place respectively in the E8.

FAMILIAR FACE
The Ducks will be looking to avenge a 10-poin home loss to Naz from earlier the season, while trying to extend their winning-streak over Fisher to three after a 102-95 win in late January. 

THE SITUATION
Stevens is one game ahead of Ithaca College for the fourth and final spot in the championship, and will clinch with a pair of wins. 

PB & J'S
Junior Patrick Barron scored 24 points, keyed by 6-for-10 shooting from three, Tuesday night in the Ducks win over Hartwick. At 17.7 points per game, Barron is the fifth highest scorer in the E8.

TEAM ON BACK
Junior Evan Klimchak is averaging 18.5 points per game over the last four games, including 20 in Tuesday's win.

ACCURATE DUCKS
Senior Alex Lorenz leads the E8 in field goal shooting at 65 percent, while Klimchak is the conference leader in three point shooting. No other player in the conference is averaging 60 percent from the field.

DOUBLE-DOWN
Lorenz' double-double Tuesday was his sixth in the last nine game, raising his season total to nine.
