TEANECK, N.J. (February 7, 2016) - Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing sophomore
Karen Kong recorded her 100th career win at sabre Sunday in a 5-0 day for the Ducks at the FDU Invitational.
The Ducks topped Queens College 23-4, Long Island University-Post 25-2, Yeshiva University 25-2, Drew University 21-6, and Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University 17-10. In the FDU match, the Ducks sabre squad went 9-0 and only surrendered five touches against for the match,
With the wins, the Ducks are now 18-5 on the season.
Freshman
Michelle Drobish led all Stevens fencers with a 15-0 day at sabre, while freshman
Julia Yang also enjoyed an undefeated afternoon at the weapon at 9-0. Kong went 9-1 in the milestone-reaching day, and freshman
Madeleine Daniell went 5-2.
Sophomore
Abby Kaye paced the Ducks at foil with a 12-1 day, while senior
Caroleen Chen also hit double-figures with at 10-2. Senior
Jane Cruz rounded-out the Ducks top performers at foil with six wins.
Freshman
Amanda Choy and sophomore
Erin Hatcher led the Ducks at epee with nine wins each, while freshman
Julie McEldoon and sophomore
Youmna Elsayed finished 8-1 and 6-1 respectively.
The Ducks will return to the strips next Sunday where they'll look to depend their Eastern Women's Fencing Conference title.
