Miranda Ripken became the 11th player in program history to record 1,000 points as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team topped Ithaca College 61-50 Tuesday.
The Ducks moved to 16-5 overall, and 12-0 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Ithaca fell to 11-10, 7-5 in the E8.
Stevens started the game hot, making its first three shots and racing out to a 7-0 edge. Ripken, who entered the game four points shy of the mark, scored her first two points with back-to-back free throws. The Fallston, Md. native would reach the milestone under a minute later at the 4:31 mark, connecting on a jumper. The Ducks defense limited Ithaca to just two field goals over the final 4:13 of the opening stanza.

Kaitlyn Astel extended the Ducks lead to 13 with 4:19 to go in the opening half, but the Bombers would tally the next six markers, cutting the deficit to seven. Stevens would use a jumper from junior
Daphne Ginn with nine ticks left in the second quarter to head into intermission with a double-digit lead.
A layup by Ithaca's Shayna Gaskins trimmed halftime edge in half, but Stevens scored the final five points of the third quarter to stop the IC comeback, as Astel would knock a pair from the charity stripe with 11 seconds remaining. The Astel-Ripken duo would score the first five markers of the fourth quarter, and Ithaca would get no closer than eight points the rest of the contest.
Ripken scored 10 points to go along with seven rebounds, while Astel led all scorers with 20 points and seven boards. Senior

Anna Toke each hauled in a team-best nine rebounds.
Erin Ferguson recorded a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Bombers in the losing effort.
The Ducks will take on Utica College on Saturday, with tip-off scheduled for 4 p.m.
