AMHERST, Mass. (March 11, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell to No. 4 Amherst College 82-48 in the NCAA Third Round Friday.

The Ducks ended its season at 23-7, while Amherst improved to 29-1 and will take on the University of Rochester tomorrow.

The teams traded the first six points of the contest, but Amherst went on a 14-5 spurt to jump out ahead. A jumper by senior Kaitlyn Astel with 25 seconds left in the first quarter but the gap to single digits, but Jaimie Renner hit a layup for the hosts to establish the double digit edge after one.

After a scoreless 2:26 to open the second frame, sophomore Megan Brown hit a layup to cut the lead to eight points at 24-16, but a 20-4 run by the Lord Jeffs broke the game open. Renner would hit a layup at the buzzer to put the hosts up 24.
