ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 16, 2016) – The No. 20 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team scored double digit goals in both halves en route to a 24-1 victory over St. John Fisher College Saturday.
The Ducks won their third straight and moved to 11-3 and 4-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Fisher dropped to 5-8 and 2-3 in the E8.
Senior
Andrew Scrutchfield opened the scoring at the 10:43 mark, and just 10 seconds later freshman
Nicholas Carnovale took the ensuing faceoff marched down the field to double the Ducks lead. Senior
Connor O'Shea scored 13 seconds after that, and the Ducks had put up seven markers before the first stanza was done.
Scrutchfield completed his hat trick in the second quarter, scoring a man down goal with 7:39 remaining in the second. O'Shea would finish his hat trick midway through the third frame, and
Tommy Dawson would be the third member of the Ducks to tally three goals, capping off his trio of markers with a man up goal six seconds into the fourth.
Junior
Chris Contino tallied his first career goal while also scooping up three ground balls, while Carnovale was 10-of-13 in the faceoff "X". Senior
Matt Ferentini registered two goals and an assists, and freshman
Carson White made six saves in the victory.
Tanner Swan made eight saves for the Cardinals, while Matthew Condon scored the lone goal for the hosts.
The Ducks will be back on the road Wednesday, taking on Utica College at 4 p.m.
